RAIN SHADOW


i'm enjoying the northwest, although i have not yet had a chance to do a whole lot since i am waiting to sell my van still. i may have a buyer today, though, and then i will be able to begin my trip in earnest. i haven't been able to take the RV anywhere because of the van issue. i've been parked, boondocking at the local indian casino. my first stop will probably be in sequim, a small town west of seattle that unlike the rest of her neighboring communities, gets very little rain and instead, enjoys much sun. so of course i want to go there first!! this freak of nature occurs because of the position of the mountains around her, and they call it a 'rain shadow.' there are just a few small towns like that west of seattle that have this nifty little natural feature! now, to find that bottle of tanning oil i brought with me.......
